1.                 Who is eligible to join St Paul’s Barnes SC? 

St Paul’s Barnes SC is a community based swimming club open equally to both girls and boys (both St Paul’s and non-St Paul’s) and seniors and masters.

 

 

2.                 What is the philosophy of St Paul’s Barnes SC?

St Paul’s Barnes SC believes that competitive swimming is a lifestyle pursuit. Accordingly, we have created a structure to nurture young talent and to assist teenage swimmers fulfill their swimming potential while also achieving their academic goals, hopefully going on to represent their chosen university or college swim team and then return as active seniors and masters. St Paul’s Barnes SC will seek to be both inclusive and to pursue excellence.    

 

3.                 What are the membership fees?

There will be a small joining fee for each member of £20-£25 to cover the cost of each member’s ‘starter pack’ which will include a club cap, a club t-shirt and a club water bottle.

Monthly squad fees payable by standing order will be:

Sibling discounts will be available for families with three or more swimmers being members of the club. Student discounts and holiday rates are available for swimmers over 18 years old in full time education. Please refer to our website page www.stpaulsbarnessc.com/joining-the-club for further details. 4.                 How often are swimmers expected to compete?

Swimmers will be encouraged to compete regularly and at least once every 6-8 weeks. The overall competition programme will comprise: (i) league competitions to engender ‘club spirit’, (ii) the normal annual progression of championships including club, borough, county, regional and national and (iii) selected open meets which provide opportunities to measure improvement, to achieve qualifying times and to have race practice in a ‘championship’ style environment.

 

5.                 Will St Paul’s Barnes SC pay any entry fees?

As an aspirational club, St Paul’s Barnes SC will pay entry fees for age group swimmers at regional and national championships and for seniors and masters at national and international championships.

6.                 How do I obtain a Membership Form?

Membership and standing order forms are available from the website (www.stpaulsbarnessc.com).  From there, you can download our membership form, or you can contact us directly about membership or any other enquiries from our ‘Club Contacts’ page on the web site.  Completed forms should be sent to us by post, or alternatively scanned and sent by  email.

 

7.      What can I do to help in the development of St Paul’s Barnes SC?

First, there are a number of management team vacancies for which we will be looking to recruit  volunteers. These include: Volunteers’ Development Officer and Club Merchandise Manager. Additionally, the club is keen to develop a group of qualified timekeepers and judges to enable us to provide our fair share of officials when we organize and attend meets. Please approach any member of the committee if you are interested either in taking on a volunteer role or becoming qualified as a timekeeper or judge.
